The Clinton Figure Skating Club
is one of the oldest figure skating clubs in the country and one of the largest on the East Coast.
The club began as an informal group in 1948 following the construction of the Clinton Arena in Clinton, New York. Two years later, on August 14, 1950, Edward W. Stanley, one of the pioneers of the arena, initiated the first contact with the United States Figure Skating Association.
C.F.S.C. was formally organized, and on
October 22, 1950 an application for membership was submitted to the USFSA. On May 14, 1951 the club was approved for full membership.

The surrounding area enthusiastically received the Clinton Figure Skating Club, and membership grew to approximately 200 the first year. Just as the club was growing in popularity, tragedy struck on September 11,1953 when the Clinton Arena was leveled by fire. The facility was rebuilt and opened for skating in January 1954.
The Clinton Figure Skating Club is among the leaders in the skating world in presenting an uninterrupted ice extravaganza. Our 50th Ice Show Anniversary was presented in March 2000. Synchronized team skating competition became popular in the early 1980's.
The Silver Blades intermediate team was formed in 1982, while the Silverettes juvenile team followed in 1985. The Silver Ingots introductory team was added in 1993 and renamed to the Silver Stars in 1999. The teamshave performed in exhibitions and have competed successfully throughout the Northeastern United States.
In the 2005-2006 season, our Club membership numbers more than 260 (with about 220 skating in our annual ice show). Our skaters have individually performed with considerable success in many area competitions as well as Regional and Sectional competitions. In addition, our three synchronized skating teams had a successful year. At the open junior level, the Silver Blades placed fourth at the Colonial Classic and third at the Empire State Games. The Silverettes placed third at the Empire State Games at the intermediate level, and the Silver Stars placed fourth at the Rochester Spring Skate at the pre-juvenile level.
